As noted at Opening Ceremonies, Reuters mentioned it:

I thought the Reuters report, complete WITHOUT pictures, was sort of an attempt to bury the story.  Nothing in it worth picking up by a subscriber outlet.

Also The Burgh Baby has a very nice write-up about Anthrocon, and has a soft spot for fursuiters in particular. ("They make Pittsburgh about 25609235% more awesome for one weekend every year.")

We met burgh baby in a restaurant! She's SUPER sweet, too. When she was talking about the con her face was lighting up, it was really cute actually.

I'm glad to see Burgh Baby got down to the con again this year.  I loved reading her posts about it last year, and most of the comments on it as well; really made me feel welcomed by the city.  I'm crossing my fingers to end up on her blog myself next year when I have my own suit =P

I figured that if Obama made a furry-related joke at his CMU speech, then we are officially mainstream.

We're getting some good press these days! Quite a turnaround from the way it used to be.

I noticed one thing that is conspicuous in its absence: There is no mention in any of these articles about Anthrocon's amazing charity work. Perhaps the reporters didn't find that interesting enough to mention in the articles, or perhaps they were just not made aware of it?

Also, I'm glad the Post Gazette article spoke to the serious problem of hotel space downtown. It's amazing to me that a convention of such modest size as Anthrocon (as compared to professional / industry events) taxes the existing accommodations and infrastructure so much, especially considering how common it is for AC attendees to fill rooms with four people instead of just one or two. Maybe if we keep making enough noise, they'll realize how much money they're losing by being passed over by larger conventions and start building hotels. One can hope! Smiling

Seconded. It would be hard to find a place as friendly as Pittsburgh, but hotel space is a bigger issue each year.

It is worth pointing out that I can not find any record in our membership database of a "Gary Guy Matthews" / "Boomer". Just sayin'.

here there is been a comment in "de bron""  a dutch news site, i had to dig for it, but i found it

http://www.linuxconnect.eu/item/918729/furries-terug-naar-Pittsburgh-voor-2011-anthrocon-conventie

basicaly its says: -Pittsburgh-  Pittsburgh is expecting a new group of visitors in town: furries.  That is because the annual hairy convention is being held in the David L. Lawrence convention Centre  (since link is old, there is a possibility you can not get the last word "centre")
