Question about this! My friends and I planned to go to the zoo early on Thursday. Since the Dealer's Hall obviously won't be open at that time, is there anywhere we would be able to make our donations and receive our coupons?

Material donations can be made to a convention staff member of the Raffle/Auction at the Dealers Room during its setup and open hours on Thursday and Friday of the convention, however the Zoo's discount admission coupons in exchange for cash and material donations can only be acquired from the Zoo's representatives who will not be available until setup hours on Friday. For further questions regarding this discount, please contact jszoszorek(at)pittsburghzoo.org.

Perhaps for next year, consider having someone around on Thursday to collect donations and hand out said coupons - especially since pre-reg attendees can pick up their badges starting at noon. My friends and I would have liked to visit the zoo, but we obviously don't want to go while the convention is in progress.

Anthrocon staff and volunteers are not permitted to collect donations, and the Zoo representatives are not available until Friday. This is why the coupon is good until July 8th, five days after the convention. We apologize for being unable to accommodate everyone's schedule.

Just a friendly reminder that the pittsburgh zoo has a breeding pair of Amur Leopards- one of the 10 most endangered species in the world(According to many). They had a cub born this year in Februaryish, so yes go see them to promote more breeding and conservation efforts!

Since I do not want to go while the convention is in full swing I am going to the zoo on Thursday morning. For those who are driving there I suggest crossing the river and using the highway to get near its location then crossing back to get to the zoo: study Google maps first or just use local streets (still study Google Maps!). There is a bus but get a schedule first as it is infrequent and takes near 65+ minues to get there if I remember from my first trip there in 2009. BTW: There is a EV charging station there. |
